Carli

 Carli Harper-Penman

 Cllr Carli Harper-Penman

Carli lives and works in Tower Hamlets, having moved here originally as a student more than ten years ago. She currently works for a major national charity. She has been a councillor since 2006, representing Bethnal Green South ward and has campaigned throughout the Borough on issues from road safety to crime and anti-social behaviour. Her interests include equality issues, employment, sport & culture and the environment and will continue to work hard to represent residents’ views. When not busy with council duties, Carli is a keen supporter of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, enjoys running in Victoria Park at the weekends, and appreciates live music and theatre.

Marc

Marc Francis

 Cllr Marc Francis

Marc lives on Old Ford Road in Bow and previously has worked for the homeless charity, Shelter.  He was elected as a Labour councillor for Bow East ward in 2006 and in the past 18 months has been Lead Councillor for Housing & Development.  To help those in our ward and across the borough, he has introduced an innovative £20 million project to buy back and re-let former council flats sold under the right to buy, helped secure millions of pounds of investment to repair and improve existing social housing and introduced constructive reforms to the housing allocations system.  Marc also worked hard to bring about the £10 million restoration of Victoria Park.

Omer

Ahmed Omer

  Cllr. Ahmed Omer

Ahmed has lived in the area for all of his life, is a family man and the son of a Second World War sea veteran. As a councillor he has helped residents improve their lives and provided them with more opportunities on a variety of issues. In particular, he has worked hard to secure adequate housing and  helped residents to gain financial independence through education and employment training. In becoming the first Somali Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Ahmed believes he has set an example to local people from all ethnic communities that they can integrate and succeed if they contribute to the area’s development. Above all, he is proud to be a councillor and represent the concerns and voices of our fellow residents.
