Lesley
Pavitt
I have been convinced since I was 16 that
the Labour Party is the only party that will represent and improve
the lives of ordinary working people. I have lived in Tower
Hamlets for over 30 years and have been a governor of Bethnal Green
Technology College for 12 years and Chair of Governors for the last
5 years. I am retired now but I trained as a nurse and worked
for over 30 years in the NHS. I am an active member of the THINK a
watchdog for health and social care and am committed to public
services staying in the public sector.

Mizanur Rahman
Chaudhury
Mizan has been a resident of Tower Hamlets
since his childhood and lives local to Bethnal Green South,
therefore he understands and can relate to the problems and
challenges faced by people in our ward. He works as a civil servant
supporting schools and children services. Mizan has been actively
involved in issues that matter to our community and is committed to
putting local people first. His priorities include improving youth
services and dealing with crime and anti-social behaviour. With his
experience in working in Government and your support, he will work
hard and will be able to bring real positive changes to the
area.

Councillor Sirajul
Islam
Sirajul has lived in Bethnal Green South
for 25 years with his family and has been a local councillor since
2001. In addition to holding senior positions in the council,
including being Deputy Leader for the past three years, Sirajul
helped to achieve a three star rating for the Council’s Social
Services department. He is also a governor of John Scurr Primary
School and sits on many local bodies. Siraj has a passion for
working with local people and local organisations to bring about
lasting improvements to Bethnal Green South. He is particularly
keen on reducing anti social behaviour and crime, creating
opportunities and facilities for young
people and enabling our diverse communities to work
together.
